Yes. Alberta Health Care provides partial coverage for basic senior and children’s eye examinations, but it does not cover the full cost of a comprehensive eye examination or all of the testing and services that may be provided.
At Focal Pointe Eyecare, our examinations are designed to provide a thorough assessment of both vision and eye health, rather than simply checking your glasses prescription. Depending on the examination and your individual needs, testing may include retinal photography, OCT imaging, meibography, visual field testing, and other diagnostic assessments.
We apply the Alberta Health Care benefit toward the eligible portion of your examination and subsidize a portion of the remaining cost. The patient’s co-pay covers the remaining portion. This allows us to provide a comprehensive assessment, modern diagnostic technology, and personalized recommendations beyond the portion covered by Alberta Health Care.
